There’s something extra special about photographing friends. You already know their laughs, their personalities, the way they interact—and that comfort shows up in every image. I recently had the joy of photographing one of my dear friends and her daughter, and it reminded me why I love what I do so much.

We chose Jolleys Ranch for the location, and I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. Tucked into the mountains, this spot is dreamy. It’s one of those rare places that works beautifully in both summer and fall—lush, vibrant greens in the warmer months, and warm golden tones when the leaves start to turn.

The mountain backdrop is stunning, but it’s the variety that really makes Jolleys Ranch shine. Between the open grassy fields, tall trees, and that charming white barn, there are so many spots to work with. Whether you're after something rustic, playful, or classic and clean, it has a little bit of everything.

During our session, the light filtered perfectly through the trees, her daughter ran through the grass , and we caught those authentic, in-between moments that only happen when everyone feels at ease. It didn’t feel like work—it felt like hanging out and making memories.

This session reminded me that some of the best photos come when there’s trust and familiarity—and photographing friends brings that in naturally. There’s less pressure, more laughter, and the kind of genuine connection you just can’t fake.
